Labuan Bajo Car Hire with Driver | Chauffeured Fleet

Labuan Bajo car hire with driver means you book the vehicle and a professional local chauffeur as one package — fuel, driver, parking and road tolls included in a single quoted rate. As of 2026 every hire we arrange is chauffeured; we do not offer self-drive, because Flores gradients, blind mountain bends and unlit rural sections are best handled by someone who drives them daily. Rates are quoted in USD per vehicle (not per seat) and confirmed in writing before you pay anything.

Labuan Bajo Car Hire is operated under Komodo Luxury, part of Juara Holding Group, operating from Bali across Indonesia since 2015. The same ground team that handles harbour transfers, hotel pick-ups and multi-day Flores itineraries handles your hire, so a delayed flight or a re-timed boat departure gets solved by a dispatcher who already knows the route.

What is included in a chauffeured hire?

Every quotation is all-in for the hours you book. There are no per-kilometre surcharges inside the agreed area, and no separate driver meal or accommodation line for day hires within the Labuan Bajo–Ruteng corridor.

  • Vehicle and fuel — petrol or diesel for the full booked duration.
  • English-speaking driver — local Flores drivers who know the harbour, airport and hotel access roads.
  • Parking, tolls and entry fees for the car — settled by the driver, not by you at the kerb.
  • Bottled water and phone charging in-car, plus boot space cleared for dive bags and hard cases.
  • Flexible routing — stop where you like within the hire window; the itinerary is yours, not a fixed coach loop.

Not included: personal meals, attraction tickets for passengers, and overtime beyond the booked hours (charged in whole hours, quoted upfront).

Which vehicles are in the hire fleet?

The fleet is sized for how people actually travel here: couples with dive gear, families going to Wae Rebo, and crews moving photographic or production kit. Availability is confirmed per date — during peak months the larger SUVs and vans book out first.

Vehicle class Typical seats Best suited to
Compact MPV (Avanza / Xenia class) 4–5 passengers Town runs, harbour and airport hops, short half-day hire
Executive MPV (Innova Reborn / Zenix class) 5–6 passengers Full-day sightseeing, Batu Cermin and Cunca Wulang, added luggage
Large SUV (Fortuner / Pajero class) 5–6 passengers Steep or unsealed access roads, upland villages, wet-season routes
Minibus (Hiace Commuter / Premio class) 10–14 passengers Groups, dive clubs, wedding parties, crew and equipment moves
Premium van 4–6 passengers Corporate arrivals and guests wanting a quieter, higher-spec cabin

For airport-only movements a short point-to-point booking is usually better value than a full hire — see our Labuan Bajo airport transfer page. For groups, the dedicated minibus hire option keeps everyone in one vehicle instead of a convoy.

Half-day or full-day hire — which do you need?

A half-day hire (up to 5 hours) suits arrivals, a Batu Cermin cave and Puncak Waringin sunset combination, or a morning of hotel viewings. A full-day hire (up to 10 hours) is the standard choice for Cunca Wulang waterfall, Melo village, Rangko Cave or a slow loop of the coastline with lunch stops. Anything crossing into a second calendar day is quoted as a multi-day hire with the driver staying near your accommodation. Details of both windows are on the half-day and full-day hire page.

Can you hire a car for overland Flores?

Yes — overland is where a chauffeured hire earns its keep. The Trans-Flores route east from Labuan Bajo through Ruteng, Bajawa, Ende and on to Moni and Kelimutu is long, winding and mountainous; drive times are consistently longer than map estimates suggest. Multi-day hires include the driver’s accommodation and meals, and the itinerary is built around daylight driving rather than distance targets. Common shapes are a three-day Wae Rebo and Ruteng loop, or a five-to-seven-day run to Kelimutu with an airport drop in Maumere. Full route notes are on our Flores overland hire page.

How do you book a Labuan Bajo car hire?

  • Step 1 — send your dates and details via WhatsApp or email: pick-up point, date, start time, passenger and luggage count, and rough plan.
  • Step 2 — receive a written quote: vehicle class, hours, inclusions and total in USD, usually the same day.
  • Step 3 — confirm with a deposit or, for short hires, a simple confirmation; payment options are set out in the quote.
  • Step 4 — get your driver details: name, vehicle, plate and mobile number, sent before the hire day.
  • Step 5 — meet at the kerb: airport arrivals meet a name board at the terminal exit; hotel and harbour pick-ups are lobby or gate-side.

How much does car hire with driver cost in Labuan Bajo?

All hires are quote-based. The figures below are indicative starting points as of 2026 for planning only — final pricing depends on date, vehicle availability, route distance and season, and is confirmed in your written quote.

Hire type Indicative from (USD, per vehicle)
Half-day chauffeured hire (up to 5 hours) from ~USD 35–55
Full-day chauffeured hire (up to 10 hours) from ~USD 55–90
Minibus full-day hire (10–14 seats) from ~USD 90–140

Disclaimer: these ranges are indicative and not an offer. Fuel costs, vehicle class, peak-season demand and route difficulty all move the number. Ask for a written quote for your exact dates.

Frequently asked questions

Is self-drive car hire available in Labuan Bajo?

Not through us. As of 2026 we supply chauffeured hire only. Beyond the road conditions, having a local driver means someone else deals with parking at the harbour, village access permissions and last-minute route changes when a road is closed.

Do your drivers speak English?

Our drivers handle everyday conversational English — directions, timings, ordering, and practical explanation of the places you pass. If you want deeper interpretation, history and village etiquette, request a dedicated guide alongside the hire and we will quote it separately.

Can the car meet an early flight or a late boat return?

Yes. Early-morning airport departures and late harbour returns after a liveaboard are routine; tell us the flight number or boat name and the pick-up is timed against it, with the driver monitoring delays.

How far in advance should I book?

For standard MPVs, a few days is usually enough outside peak periods. For minibuses, large SUVs and multi-day overland trips in July, August and around year-end, book several weeks ahead — the larger vehicles are the constraint, not the drivers.
